[KING DAVID]
David Price Ks A-Rod Twice
David Price made what should be his last extended spring training start today, with a twist. He faced the New York Yankees extended spring squad which featured a rehabbing Alex Rodriguez.

In 5 innings, Price faced A-Rod 5 times. Rodriguez went 1-4 with a home run, a walk and 2 strike outs. Price allowed 4 hits and 2 runs in those 5 innings, striking out 10.

Price is scheduled to make his pro debut on Thursday for Vero Beach, nearly one year after he was drafted by the Rays with the #1 overall pick in the 2007 draft.

And according to commenter Diana, Thursday night is also $1 beer night in Vero Beach. Road Trip anyone?

I thought Price looked terrific. He used his whole arsenal, seemingly without trouble and with excellent control-and I think command as well. One of the coaches told me he was at 96 on the gun.

He struck out A-Rod on what looked like a dandy slider after feeding him fastballs that A-Rod could not handle. The home run was a bomb to RF on the first pitch of the second at bat. Otherwise A-Rod popped out, walked and struck out his last AB on a called strike, a fastball on the inside corner I think. That came right after a pitch that looked like strike 3. In fact, it seemed that A-Rod expected it to be a K.

He really looks great on the mound with what appears to be outstanding command of all his pitches. Of course, these are rookies and hardly a challenge. The other hits were grounders that eluded infielders.
