In that picture, you can't see the Elvis impersonator who was sitting on the aisle in a full-out gold lame suit. The transgressor was talking to security and then he just bolted toward the dugout. He had a pretty good lead on security, but mysteriously fell right as he was getting to the edge. I am convinced that Elvis tripped or otherwise impeded him and that is what allowed security to catch up. It was tremendous.

FWIW I was at the Game Tue and a yankes fan got tased twice on the steps in Sec 129.
Im a loyal red sox fan and a constant reader of this blog.
Do you think the Cops use of Tasers in the Trop is commonplace, troubling?

I would say that opposing fans acting like morons is commonplace, troubling. If they do things like charge the Rays dugout and resist the officers, than they deserve whatever they get.

I'm with Steve-o on that one. I don't know about the Yanks fan, but that dude last night was headed to the dugout and he never stopped struggling. It took about 6 security guards to hold him until the cops got there. If anyone ever deserved a taser, it was that guy. Moreover, it is not at all clear that they used the taser. I never saw any convulsing or anything. Of course, I was on the other baseline a level up, so I'm not really sure.

Clearly the guy who charged is not Sox or baseball fan in general. I was wondering if you guys have seen the use of tasers before in the Trop, seeing one pulled 2 days in a row and used once is a bit disconcerting.

I personaly think its a public safety hazard to be discharging a taser in a crowd.

This was maybe my 20th game this year, and who knows overall (probably 50+), and this is the first time I've seen anything like this at the Trop. And no, I don't find it disconcerting in the least. I've seen no definitive reports that this guy was tazed. Seems to me like the authorities, properly trained in the use of tazers, acted 100% appropriately in both cases.

How much of a 'public safety hazard' is a raging, 240 lb beligerent, drunk? Did you see the game in Chicago where those fans attacked the Royals first base coach?

Agreed. I've heard that the guy was not tased. I would not question any officers when dealing with people like that.

Side note: Fernando Perez said in an interview that the guy was screaming "Go Sox" the whole time, even as he was being arrested...priceless.
