Just the links this morning and we will be off the grid most of the day. We will be back this evening with a "RIGO!", so we will see you then...
DEVIL DOGS WEBTOPIA...
- We are having a hard time finding a link but we heard from several sources that Joe Maddon said after game 5 was suspended that he was well-aware of the rule that the World Series would not have ended had the game been suspended with the Phillies in the lead. However, Maddon made it clear that he did not inform the players of this because he wanted them playing with a sense of urgency.

- Jorge Ortiz of USA Today breaks down how the rest of Game 5 will be managed. [USA Today]
- Marc Lancaster reported that as of game time last night it was not raining and had not rained in a couple of hours. He does mention that the conditions (cold, wind) would have made last night an unpleasant time to try and play baseball. [Rays Report]
- David Lennon of Newsday says the Phillies have every reason to be upset but that they won't have any problem moving past it as the players follow the lead of their manager, Charlie Manuel. [Newsday]
- Sam Donnellon of the Philadelphia Inquirer says Philadelphia is ready to lay all the blame at the feet of Bud Selig if the Phillies lose the World Series...Way to have confidence in your team guys. [Philadelphia Inquirer]
- Or maybe they will just blame God. [Philadelphia Inquirer]
- Or as Mike Lopresti of USA Today puts it, the "gods must be crazy" as Bud Selig's no-win situation was just the latest in a very odd World Series. [USA Today]
- John Romano wonders if destiny is indeed on the Rays' side. [St. Pete Times]
- Tyler Hissey says BJ Upton's postseason has helped many to forget their criticisms from the regular season. [Rays Digest]

I'm not clairvoyant, except for the occasional deja vu thing that everyone has, but last night I had a dream and in it there was a box score of the last three innings of a ball game. It ended with 3 and 2 runs scored by one of the teams in the last two innings and a 7-2 final. I saw which half of the innings the runs were scored, but being both optimistic and superstitious, I won't say which.
since we'll have had a day and a half to disect MLBs handling of the game, columnists are gonna write their stories and sports radio is gonna skewer selig...
im not blaming him, im not crying in my beer or any of that...im fully confident the phils will take care of business tonight...but starting the 6th inning was a joke...if our guys had to work in that slop with cole having no grip of the ball, then the rays should have to...it was def a little fishy they let that 6th inning begin
and per the last thread, do you guys REALLY wanna know my name??? seriously...will it make you feel much better?
No, we'd rather you just STFU.
how dare you post as anonymous...do you speak for all five of you on here when ya say that???
believe me, it would be easy to troll on here and talk smack...considering how the series is going...but i havent
its just interesting to get other teams fans perspectives...and believe me, you havent seen trolls since youve seen met fans...although i would imagine red sox fans would be awfully annoying
Hey CP-
I can tell which team scored the 3 and the 2 in your dream... It cannot be the "home" team in this scenerio as if it was the "Home" team would not have to bat in the 9th if they had a 5-2 lead going into the final inning. But we won't name names because I too am superstitious--
And may I also say... may all your dreams come true sir =)
Please don't allow Patti La Belle to showcase herself tonight again, that was not honoring the USA by leading the fans in singing Our National Anthem. Unbelievably making two separate mistakes in the words, screeching her voice and changing the Anthem into a jazz tune, it was very painful.
Would Fox push back the start of any of their shows for any other paid programming? Or just the one's that allow for political agendas to be pushed down our throats a la Ross Perot?
yeah, Patti was not very good...
dirtbag...the obama thing tonight is ridiculous...i cant imagine the uproar if mccain was buying all that time though...especially if it FOX aired it...their execs said having no pregame is "no big deal"...really??? is that why you give us 6 hours of pre game for the super bowl??? if theres ONE game in this series that warrants a pre game its this one
im not an obama supporter..its annoying but whatev...if mccain had the air time, people would be freaking out
McCain could never do this because he has no money. He bought the air time. Actually , let me correct, the American people bought the airtime.
"you better to start swinning
or you're gonna sink like a stone
for the times they are a changin"
Obama '08. Rays '08. If the Rays could win the world series and Obama could win the election this will be the greatest week of my life.
Please don't be too mad Cork -- I didn't bring up politics.
Obama is a liar.

Game on! 8:37. Lancaster reporting.
If McCain had bought that time they'd have played the pregame and "accidentally" bumped him until Nov. 5th
now that, dirtbag, we can agree on...
unfortch, obamas got the thing wrapped up...unless he did a chris farley from 'tommy boy' and yelled 'kill whitey' on stage
FOX would catch hell if it were a mccain spot...ive personally felt the wrath from the dems in this town with a sarah palin incident from a weeks ago here.........
you can talk all about the handling of game 5 as much as you want, but you are just looking for excuses. the rays played in the same slop in the bottom of the 5th, and got out of a 2 on, no out jam with no runs. you can complain all you want...please direct all your complaints to a brick wall. it will listen to you better than we will
cougar...im not looking for any excuse...you just arent going to convince me that the conditions were any worse in the top of the 6th than they would be for the bottom...
whats done is done...give me the better pen, more outs and a 3-1 lead in the cold weather and rowdy fans any day of the week
Here's the thing, Philly fan keeps saying that it's not fair that Hamel had to pitch in worse weather in the top of the 6th then the Rays had to pitch in in the bottom of the 5th, so it would've only been fair had the Rays had to pitch in the bottom of the 6th... that argument doesn't fly because the weather was getting continuosly worse which would've meant that the Rays would've pitched in worse weathr in the bootom of the 6th than the Phillies did in the top of the 6th, so then it would be an unfair advantage in favor of the Phillies, and so on and so on...
In that regard there was no ideal time to stop the game once the weather really took a turn for the worse. Stopping it when they did was for the safety of the players, period.
Game on. You cats better hope to hell that you close it out tonight, because if you don't you could be in for one nasty trick or treat.
