[SOX ON LIFE-SUPPORT]
Boston Writer Summons Ghost Of Carlton Fisk, Renders Death Inevitable For Red Sox
OK, we have one link to help RAYSHEADS put everything back into perspective...

Steve Buckley of the Boston Herald says the Red Sox were dead and came back to life and compares last night's Red Sox win to game 6 of the 1975 World Series by summoning the ghost of Carlton Fisk.
Yet the fact remains: The Red Sox were dead, and dead teams are not supposed to wake up. It is scientifically impossible. You’re dead, you’re dead. Then again, if dead teams did not awaken, we would not have Bobby Thomson and Carlton Fisk and all that.
Somebody needs to remind Buckley that the Red Sox lost game 7 of the 1975 World Series.

Teams can come back to life. It is a thing we like to call "life-support". But eventually the plug must be pulled.

Somehow, Red Sox get magical [Boston Herald]

To help improve traffic to your site, you should think about changing the name to www.bandwagonjumpers.com. It should help.

Funny.

Red Sox Nation invented the term "bandwagon". Nowadays, go to a regular season game at the Trop against the Red Sox and 20,000 Red Sox fans will show up.

Think is has always been that way?

WHERE WERE THE RED SOX FANS IN 2002?

The rays wouldn't still be in business if it wasn't for Sox and Yankee fans filling Tropicana. You guys should just say thank you, and shut the hell up.

Yankees and Red Sox fans don't fill the Marlins' stadium and they're still in business....

somehow the Rays survived before you guys started buying up all those pink hats. the same people that were seen leaving Fenway in the 7th inning last night.

The rays wouldn't still be in business if it wasn't for Sox and Yankee. I can see you have not ben to the Trop this year. Stands are BLUE now Not Red. The few drunken foul mouthed let's fight fand that show up get kicked out. Maybe that was you.

That link was horrible. Probably a shot taken in the ninth with the Sox leading by double digits. What about the Rays fan (s)? I didn't seem them either. That was a homegame right? a homegame against a AL East rival?......oh, you mean to say no Rays fans in attendance either? but now, it's almost sold out? so, I guess that answers the bandwagon argument.......Red Sox fans where raised going to games with their fathers at Fenway and hearing stories of how their fathers took them to games and "sat in almost these same seats". Rays fans are raised by bullshit Bay Area "sports" fans who go because they are good now and it's oh so fucking trendy. Congrats on being the Ugg boots of the sports world.

it was 3-1 in the 7th. No red sox fans in sight. it is a picture from an old Bill Simmons column.

and at that point what exactly were bay area sports fans supposed to root for? the old ownership group was terrible. every team doesn't have fans until they are good and have something to root for.

And Fenway was not selling out in 2002 even though your fanbase is soooo loyal.

I will never understand the fascination with Red Sox fans and Yankees fans to somehow prove that they are a "better" or "more loyal" fan. Why is this important? Who the fuck cares? Root for your team. Why do get so fucking worked up about how other people root for their teams? Some people need to reassess their priorities in life

Why are you guys trying to talk sense into people like this? You will never win. These retards live for pissing people off and you're giving him/her/it the enjoyment.

that 9-11 comment is exactly why NO ONE respects "Rays" fans -

and HISTORY LESSON - This support for the rays is the DEFINITION of bandwagon jumping

how about bleached blonde rays fan at fenway last night they kept showing ? you telling me she knows the rays? NO WAY she is a bandwagon jumper, nah

Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand fast. Hug it out, anonymous internet blogger commenters!

"that 9-11 comment is exactly why NO ONE respects "Rays" fans - "

That's funny. I have a buddy of mine from Boston, still a die hard Red Sox fan, and he said the EXACT same thing about Yankee Stadium. And he's a really nice guy. Go figure.

Why do Sox and Yanks fans care if you're a bandwagon jumper? Here's why: because if you're going to talk smack about my team you goddam well ought know something about the game and/or be able to name the players on your own f-ing team. I ran into a "Tampon Bay" fan just yesterday and and asked her to name me the staring pitching lineup and the names of all their infielders. She didn't get past Longoria - too goddam funny man!

I'm going to buy one of these shirts and wipe my ass with it at the start of the Sox & Phils World Series to help bring the Sox some luck.

Yeah, that's a good idea. Hell, what are the Bandwagon Jumpers in Tampon Bay going to do with all their t-shirts when the Tampon Bay Rays are back in the basement next season.

Because every pink hat-wearing Red Sox 'fan' knows who Jed Lowrie, Mark Kotsay, and Paul Byrd are, right? What a bunch of douche bags. I've got news for you pal, if they only allowed people who can name all of the starting pitchers and infielders into the stadiums then NOBODY would sell out. As annoying as those people can be, they're a necessary evil.

the 9/11 comment has been removed. that is not what this site is about.

We like to poke fun at the Red Sox and their fans, but it is always done in the name of sport. It is never mean-spirited. Just having fun while supporting our team. got a problem with that? I don't care. Go away and don't read the site.

1). Like we're supposed to believe your stupid conversations with people

2). Judge the whole fanbase from one person you talked to...brilliant

3). Trust me, there are more Sox fans who think Manny still plays for them.

Hey steve-o1285:

1). Like we're supposed to believe your stupid conversations with people

I DONT GIVE A RATS ASS WHAT YOU BELIEVE. BUT BELIEVE THIS, YOUR RAYS WILL BE ON THE GOLF COURSE BY MONDAY AM.

2). Judge the whole fanbase from one person you talked to...brilliant

JUDGE THE WHOLE FANBASE FROM ONE PERSON? PLEASE ASSWIPE, THE EVIDENCE IS INSURMOUNTABLE. EXHIBIT ONE: YOUR TEAM IS IN A PENNANT RACE IN LATE SEPT AND YOU CAN'T SELL THE PLACE OUT!!!!! THERE ARE ABOUT TEN DOUCHEBAGS IN TAMPON BAY WHO CARE ABOUT YOUR TEAM AND YOU APPARENTLY ARE ONE THEM.

3). Trust me, there are more Sox fans who think Manny still plays for them.

YEAH, YOU JUST KEEP TELLING YOURSELF THAT IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER ABOUT THE REST OF THE TAMPON BAY "FANS" (ALL 10 OF YOU).

Anonymous douchebag, please come back after we win game 6.

I'LL BE HERE, BUT I BET YOU WONT. I HAD THIS SAME KIND OF FUN LAST YEAR WITH CLEVELAND FANS WHO ALL THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO CLOSE IT OUT TOO. THEY WERE AS COCKY AS YOU ARE. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET LOTS OF BOOZE TO DROWN YOUR SORROWS ON SUNDAY NIGHT WHEN THE SOX CLINCE IT ALL IN THAT F-ING SEWER DOWN IN TAMPON BAY. SEE YOU BACK HERE AGAIN MY FRIEND.

Check this out:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/attendance?sort=home_avg&year=2008&seasonType=2

In a year in which the Rays won 97 games, and were in the thick of a pennant race for the entire season, season attendance at the Trop (a.k.a. "Shit hole field") was 26th in home attendance in all of baseball. Got that: 26th out of 30. 4TH FROM THE BOTTOM. That is so incredibly pathetic. You people don't come out for your own team all year long and then come October you all show up like a bunch of roaches talking all kinds of shit as if you've been baseball fans for your entire lives. God, I hope the Sox stuff their bats so far up your hind ends that it comes out your mouths. It's hard to believe, but I think I actually hate the Tampon Bay fan base more than the Yankee fan base. At least Yankee fans show up for their team's games. What a disgrace to baseball you people are.

but i welcome the day that online anonymity is completely wiped out, and certain bitchfest bostonians will have to stand by their heroic anonymous shit talking with name, pre-pube age, and address just a click away, and a mapquest from an ass-kicking.

i drink to you authoritarian government.

Hopefully the flame wars have settled down and we can get back on topic .....

I remember the '75 world series very well (I grew up in the midwest and was a huge fan of the 'big red machine') and I agree that Boston's comeback Thursday night reminded me of Fisk waving that ball fair.

Boston went on to get beat (and pretty badly as I recall) the next game, and the 1976 Reds were arguably one of the best teams of the last 50 years.

I think their reaction to that defeat set the tone for all the good things that happened later and there is no reason not to expect the same reaction tonight.

something else...
Loosing Thursday and playing this weekend may in fact be a GOOD THING as one looks ahead to the World Series.
Philly will have had a week off and the AL champs (the Rays, of course) will start on 3-4 days rest. Having that much time off in a 7 month marathon can make any team a tad rusty.

RE: anonymous (the one where you grilled someone about the Rays line-up)...

I guarantee you that there are 3-5 people on this discussion board (out of 8 who actually put their screen name above their posts)that you are arguing with right now that can rattle off every active player all season long with details of who went on the DL- when, and for how long throughout the entire season. I know for a fact that there are at least that many who can name you the batting average of every starter on the active roster and who may have missed 5-10 Rays games all season long... and this is of the 8 people who actually put their names above their posts... if you want to try to call-out "bandwagoners" you're on the wrong site. This site is called Rays Index... do you know what an index is? I'm surprised that you even know how to read and write to be completely honest, beantown baby...
tonight's game is "gawna be a wicked pissah for you Bawston fans"
