The One Where We Discuss Upton's Shoulder, His Dog, A Gross Contract And Beef K
BJ Upton hopes to be in the opening day lineup in Boston, but cautions that he may not join the team until they return home from their roadtrip a week later. Upton has been warned that the potentially cold weather in Boston and Baltimore opening week may cause his surgically repaired shoulder to ache.We also learn from Bill Chastain that Upton brought along his dog, Deuce, to his workout at Tropicana Field yesterday. Deuce is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. No word on whether Deuce took a deuce in the outfield or whether Justin Ruggiano would have been required to clean it up.

LOL @ Kaz.....17 lbs of muscle in 2 months is a helluva lot...esp for someone of his stature. I like 'Beef K'....hope it catches on.
I wonder if a mere 'ache' will be enough to keep BJ out of the lineup on Opening Day. And if it's just because of cold weather, I wonder if he'll get any hacks in towards the end of ST?
Despite being our shortest offseason ever, it sure feels like the longest.....jeeez.
the reports are not clear, but it sounds like he will be playing in spring training at some point and that the should will be healed. just that the opening week weather may cause them to be cautious.

Tomorrow is the halfway point between Opening Day and the day the World [Series] ended...
Of course the 2nd half of it won't seem as long once we get into Spring Training and the World Baseball Classic to at least keep us distracted.
And I sense "Friends" had an influence on the title of this post... lol
Can't we just get it going for goodness' sake? I'm antsy.

Yeah, that 20 lbs of muscle in 2 months is almost impossible, unless he had help. I'm guessing that number is wrong.

normally i would agree, but let's say Kaz was not working out at all during the season. it is possible that he was slightly underweight at the end of the year.
so the first 5 pounds might have been real easy and just his normal weight gain.
so if the number is really 17 or 18 pounds gained. now we are talking really about adding 12-13 pounds in 2 months. a lot still, but not really impossible.
Why dod they go and resign Gross?Definetley after signing Kapler and trading for Joyce?
Instead of Kaz working on weight gain,maybe he should work on control so he Ks more instead of BB more like he did towards the end of the season.
